Designing a music video for musicians Becky and Tom, their cover of anyone but me. The song inspired me to communicate visually a story where the main character is trapped in a suffocating environment a metaphor for anxiety and depression, trying to anyone but themselves.
Developed a storyboard to help visualise the direction of the animation from the lyrics.
From the storyboard, I put the individual frames into a timeline to generate a boardomatic to make a prototype of the outcome. From this, I simplified the animation to make its message to audiences less complicated and more apparent by removing background characters and repeating backgrounds.
Background Testing
Originally drew inspiration for the animatic through my concept background to help convey the idea for the music video. Combining the architecture to imagine the style and embrace how suffocating depression and anxiety can be and how it can sometimes feel inescapable. Through this concept art, I decided that the animation will follow the same style, with the detailed scratchy marks and dark aesthetic to visually embrace the lyrics, using photoshop to create depth in the buildings exaggerating the inescapable tone.
Panorama Testing
Applying 360-degree views on the animation, inspired by Gorillaz - Saturn burnz and Show it 2 Me - 360 music video, to add interactive elements for the audience to the animation. As well as add to the suffocating environment I have designed.
